The wood floor has the advantage of reasonable price, moisture resistance, high force resistance, but it is easy to lose gloss or scratches after a long time of use.
Do not worry, because you can completely paint your own laminate flooring to regain your home’s shiny appearance with just 6 easy steps.
Step 1: Surface preparation
First, remove all furniture in the room for the most favorable process of painting the wood floor, then:
First, carefully inspect the floor surface for damage or termites for pre-treatment. If the damage is too heavy, replace the wooden board with another one or contact a technician to have it repaired.
Next, proceed to clean the floor to completely remove dirt with a mop or vacuum cleaner. Then use a damp cloth to wipe the entire surface of the floor.
Then use P180 sandpaper to rub lightly over the entire floor surface. However, be careful not to use many different types of sandpaper, to avoid the uneven floor surface.
Step 2: Clean the wood floor again
Use a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove stains caused by sanding.
Then use a damp soft cloth to wipe over the wooden floor again to ensure the surface is completely stable.
Step 3: Primer 1 coat
Use a roller or spray gun to primer wood floors. This primer acts as a base layer, helping to increase the coating and then achieve a more durable, smooth and even color.
Each primer will have a different drying time, so follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 4: Sand the floor surface again
Once you have primed, you need to continue sanding again to make the floor smooth and even.
Use P180 sandpaper or finer sandpaper for gentle scrubbing. Then use a soft cloth to wipe off the dirt on the surface
Step 5: Paint Middle Layer
Middle paint works to increase thickness and coverage, helping to protect the surface of the wooden floor against strong impacts or vibrations.
In addition, the middle coating also works to increase the adhesion to the wooden floor surface for the coating, ensuring a durable and beautiful paint color.
So proceed with the same technique as priming. However, you also need to carefully review the manufacturer’s instructions for the minimum waiting time to apply the next coat.
Step 6: Paint 2 coats
Finally, paint 2 coats and wait for the paint to dry for at least 24 hours, you will have a shiny wooden floor like new.
The coating needs 2 coats to ensure the coating adheres to the wooden floor and limit deformation due to scratches during use.
